A Smart Mirror combines a mirror panel with a transparent OLED display: visitors see their reflection and, at the same time, the time, weather, building navigation, or a personal greeting. For reception zones in beauty salons, hotels, and business centres this is an engagement tool — the guest interacts with the space before even reaching the desk. Display brightness is 400-800 nits, viewing angle 178°, module thickness 35-50 mm. An 800 × 1200 mm touch mirror averages from $1,800; lead time is 3-5 weeks.

Smart Mirror Technology
The base is semi-transparent mirror glass (70% reflectivity, 30% transmission) with an OLED or LCD panel behind it. When the display is off you see a regular mirror. When on, the image shines through the reflective layer. A presence sensor (PIR or millimetre-wave radar) activates the screen when someone approaches within 1-2 metres.
Modules range from 430 × 600 mm (compact) to 1200 × 2000 mm (full-length). Control is by gesture (IR sensors), voice (built-in mic), or touch (projected capacitive). OS — Android or Linux, with API integration to CRM and building systems.
Reception-Zone Applications
Hotel: the lobby mirror greets the guest by name (PMS data), shows the route to their room and breakfast schedule. Beauty salon: clients see AR try-ons for hairstyles or makeup before the service starts. Office: a mirror next to the desk displays meeting-room availability and navigation to the right office.
Reception Space integrates Smart Mirrors into partitions and above-desk panels: the mirror module sits flush with HPL or natural stone, an LED perimeter light at 4000 K, and concealed ventilation. Full integration starts at $2,500 per module.
Content and Monetisation
Advertising format: the mirror runs branded content (perfume, watches, cosmetics) between interactions. Digital-signage revenue in premium lobbies reaches $150-400/month per mirror. A cloud CMS lets you update content remotely.
Analytics: a camera and software count interactions, average dwell time, and audience demographics (age, gender — anonymised). The data helps optimise placement and content mix.
Materials and Design
Frames are made from anodised aluminium (silver, black, champagne), brass, or solid oak. For frameless mounting the mirror recesses into a 60 mm wall niche. IP44 moisture protection allows installation near fountains and hammams.
Power consumption is 40-80 W active, 2-5 W standby. OLED panel lifespan is 30,000 hours (10+ years at 8 hours/day). Manufacturer warranty is 3 years, extended to 5.
